Did you get an email?

Posted in Reunion Planning at 1:55 pm by Corey Robinson (81)

Well, good!

I decided to pony up for a gold membership at classmates.com. I did this so I could email everyone there and tell them about this site. This FREE site. This free site that is run by a Daniel grad just so other grads can freely interact with one another.

Oh, and we’re planning a “25 years later” reunion for the class of 81, or thereabouts.

What can you do?
Glad I pretended you asked. You can be a part of it. You can come to the reunion in June 2006. It will be at the school, will be tons of fun, and will have some great eats. You can even help with the planning. If you’re keen on any of it, drop a comment at the bottom of this post and say so. 50,000 monkeys are hovering over their typewriters eager to take down anyone’s name.

I can’t come to a reunion, can I hang out here?
You bet! Chat, interact, post a pic or two. This is the perfect place to refind an old friend.

How are you going to find everyone?
Well, that’s where you come in! You are our secret weapon. You have knowledge of Daniel alumni, and can pass it on here. Maybe it’s only rumours? Those are good too. If you know someone from Daniel, tell them about this site. If you know so and so got a job at such and such, tell us. We’ll take every scrap of info, and give it to our advanced network of monkey detectives. They’ve only found bananas so far, so please help us with info.

Whoa indeed. Were you in my class? I’m impressed you even remember the word molarity, nevermind what it means.

Now I have to guess who dmci_dood might be. hmmm.

Didn’t you get egged in the lunchroom on your first day of school?

Nope, that did’t happen to me.

But midway through Grade 10, Lance Bartlett threw a rotten tomato at me. I think he believed I was after a girl he liked or something. I was never sure what motivated that. It might have been traumatic if his aim wasn’t so off, and it actually hit me. My apologies to George Laing who was unlucky enough to be standing nearby. :(

Now, I’d personally like to remember some of the fonder memories. And how about telling us who you are dmci_dood!

I remember DMCI with a great deal of fondness. Many of the teachers there had a great deal of effort into my development. It may have been a number of years after I had already left before I took their advise seriously and acted on it, however, I eventually did. I visited Winnipeg this summer and attended the Folklorama pavilion there, where I saw Mr. Svenson’s name beside the door to the Electonics Lab. I definately (if work allows) will attend the reunion, and would be interested in any assistance that I can provide this event from long distance.

I saw on the school division website for dmci that Sveinson is the department head. I’m amazed he’s still there. I anticipate going to Daniel soon to talk about reunion stuff with the principal, so I’ll have to wander into his shop and invite him to come to the reunion. I’ll have to make a point of finding out if there are any other teachers there from our time and invite them too.

I remember Lance Bartlett. I even went to General Wolfe with him. Boy he was pretty annoying. Always bugging us girls.
