I see you found Neal

Posted in General at 10:57 am by Pamela81

This is Pam,
I saw on the side of the home page that Neal Dow’s named has been added. So where has he been hiding? I am so glad to see so many names that are familiar coming to this site. I remember Charles Newman. When my Grandmother first moved back to Canada she lived on Colony Street, he lived on the floor below hers. I know where another of our schoolmates was living last year and I think he is still there. His name is Tony Pimental and he lives in Winnipeg Beach. He graduated the year before us. Just thought I would pas that on in case you wanted to know.
Bye for now.

Keen eyes Pam! I actually made some calls as an experiment. I thought it didn’t work, as I didn’t hear back, but I guess Neal did get one of the messages I left, and found his way here. Neal, if you’re reading this, say hey!

This is making me optimistic that we just might find a lot of people. It will take a lot of work though, in phone calls, to track people down. I don’t live in Winnipeg, so I’m not keen on racking up the long distance charges. At some point, I’ll think I’ll have to make a plea for help.

    Hello Cory, Hello Pam,
I actually have not been hiding anywhere. I did live in Ashern for some time, then in Gimli. I was involved in several organizations in Gimli and that is why my name was mentioned in the Interlake Spectator(honest, it was not on the crime page). I moved back to Winnipeg in 1997, and currently live back in the West End(my wife, Barbara, prefers to call it Wolseley).
I have stayed in touch with some of my classmates and will pass on the web site address to them. So you may soon hear from Rob Eldjarnson, John St. Jean, Mirella Masi, Perry Carriere, Gary Gray and others.
It would be nice to be able to reach others that went to General Wolfe as well as Daniel Mac. I’m thinking about Colin Daniels, Mario Igniti, Grant LaPlante, Marlene Goomansing etc.
I look forward to the reunion next June.
I will get the word out to all those that I see.
Good to see familiar names on the ‘Found Classmates’ list, let’s hope we see more!
    Take care,
    Neal

Hey Neal, When I saw your name in the Spectator it was about the Evergreen Basic Needs. There sure were a lot of names you mentioned that I recognized including the ones from General Wolfe. Speaking of General Wolfe, Neal do you remember Mr. Moss our old vice-principal?

    Hi Pam,
Yes, I was treasurer of Evergreen Basic Needs for a while. I don’t seem to remember Mr. Moss from General Wolfe, I do remember many of the teachers though. I will need to find my General Wolfe as well as my Daniel Mac yearbooks to refresh my memory. What is the story with Mr. Moss?
I recently had a conversation with Mr Page, do you remember him? I still remember the time he hit a student with an extension cord for talking when he was talking.

I remember Mr. Page. Well I met Mr. Moss again about 10 years ago right here in Riverton. He was at that time the superintendent of the Evergreen School Division. He told me I made him feel old when I told him my kids went to school here. He has since moved to B.C.

Hey Neal , are we putting the sponge hockey team back together for one final run ? I’m sure you can convince Ken Odger to play ion goal.

    Hi Tony,
You are correct in one respect, it would be ‘one final run’.
Actually, Rob and I still play along with Randy Demchuk, Curt Sarbacher, Howie Green and Serge Petrilli. I just spent the weekend in Kansas City with Gary Gray and he wouldn’t mind playing again. It may be tough to have John join us, although he would love to work out a new contract agreement. Flights from Calgary and all expenses paid would get him here. Perry Carriere can be convinced. We would need to have Les and Derek Moreau on the team again, but only if they agree to each have a pair of spongee shoes!!
If we aren’t able to put a team together for the winter season, maybe we can have a ballhockey game at Clifton School or Hignall’s Printing, just like old times.

    Neal,
Here all those names and hearing about sponge hockey again is bringing back some neat memories. I can’t believe how many people I can bring up in my mind just by reading their names on this site. It is great.

I noticed a familiar name running in Winnipeg South this last election. A teacher a few of us had at General Wolfe, Robert Page. He was running for the NDP party. He came in third.

I was reminiscing and found this page and just found out abut OT.
Dam…, the guy was a good man.
His struggle to do better will last with me and will make sure my children know about him.
